Hey Marley Rae Presents
Ubuntu Karma Yoga Trip
January 17–24, 2027 | Cape Town, South Africa
The Ubuntu Karma Yoga Trip is a deeply immersive experience rooted in the spirit of ubuntu a South African phrase meaning, “I am because we are.” Together, we’ll explore yoga beyond the mat through daily practice, meaningful service, cultural exploration, and collective healing.
Guided by Marley Rae, this journey invites you to reconnect with yourself while contributing to something greater.

Karma Yoga is often described as the yoga of action or service. Rooted in yogic philosophy, it teaches that our actions can become a form of spiritual practice when they are offered with intention, compassion, and without attachment to personal reward. In Karma Yoga, service becomes a pathway to connection, humility, and collective care.
-
This retreat is inspired by the South African philosophy of Ubuntu, a powerful idea that reminds us that our humanity is interconnected. Ubuntu is often translated as “I am because we are.” It reflects the understanding that our wellbeing is deeply tied to the wellbeing of others, and that community, compassion, and shared humanity are essential to a meaningful life.

This year marks the 10-year anniversary of my study abroad experience in South Africa and the beginning of my yoga journey. While studying interpersonal communications and African literature at the University of Cape Town, I began to see the world differently. It was there that my passion for community, social justice, healing, and cultural connection truly began.
Returning ten years later feels like coming full circle. This retreat is all about exploring what it means to live the practice beyond the mat through service, reflection, and meaningful connection with the world around us.
